Position Overview

Itechra is looking for an experienced Virtual Chief Information Officer (vCIO) to join our growing Client Services team. This position will be based out of our La Crosse, Wisconsin office.

Position Details

  • Location: La Crosse, Wisconsin — on-site
  • Employment Type: Full-time, exempt
  • Compensation: $90,000–$105,000 base salary, plus a full benefits package
  • Reports To: Director of Client Services
  • Travel: Regular travel to client sites throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and surrounding service areas

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to business owners and C-suite leaders.
  • Build and maintain multi-year technology roadmaps based on each client's business priorities, budget, and risk.
  • Lead Technology Business Reviews on a consistent schedule and keep conversations focused on the client's business goals.
  • Evaluate each client's technology environment against Itechra's standards and drive measurable improvement.
  • Turn technology roadmaps into prioritized, business-supported project recommendations.
  • Maintain an accurate understanding of each client's security, risk, and compliance posture.
  • Help clients plan technology budgets, lifecycle replacements, and future investments.
  • Partner with Itechra's Sales, Service, and Project teams to ensure client strategies are executed successfully.
  • Build strong, long-term client relationships through consistent communication, follow-through, and accountability.

Required Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience in a client-facing strategic or advisory IT role, such as IT consulting, senior account management, technology management, systems consulting, vCIO, or a similar position.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead conversations with business owners and executive leadership teams.
  • Experience building technology roadmaps and turning recommendations into approved and completed projects.
  • Ability to develop technology budgets, business cases, lifecycle plans, ROI analyses, and total cost of ownership recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, risk, and business technology needs.
  • Experience using PSA, CRM, and documentation platforms such as ConnectWise Manage, IT Glue, HaloPSA, Salesforce, or similar systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a Managed IT Services Provider environment.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity and compliance frameworks, including NIST CSF, NIST 800-171, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, or CMMC 2.0.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, CISM, CompTIA, Microsoft, or other vendor-specific certifications.
  • Experience supporting small to mid-sized businesses in regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, or professional services.

Essential Functions

  • Regular travel to client sites throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and surrounding service areas is an essential function of this position.
  • Occasional overnight travel may also be required.
