About the role

The Virtually Integrated Care (VIC) Medical Surgical Nurse works as the catalyst for patient-centered care by leading a well-coordinated care team. The VIC RN is at the center of innovation and a transformational, evidence-based practice care model. The experienced RN in this role will anticipate and direct patient care through evaluating health promotion, risk reduction, and clinical decision-making. The Nurse assumes accountability for client care outcomes through the assimilation and application of evidence-based practice to design, implement, and evaluate client plans of care in a virtual environment setting. This role functions as the center of coordination and communication for a multidisciplinary team. A high degree of professional competence and autonomy will be demonstrated in performing the roles of clinician, educator, consultant/collaborator, and leader. The VIC RN will function as a dynamic change leader for this transformational care model.

The role is facility-based for completion of orientation and has the potential to transition to a remote role with successful implementation of the care model.

Responsibilities

• Lead a well-coordinated care team as the catalyst for patient-centered care.
• Anticipate and direct patient care through evaluating health promotion, risk reduction, and clinical decision-making.
• Design, implement, and evaluate client plans of care in a virtual environment setting using evidence-based practice.
• Function as the center of coordination and communication for a multidisciplinary team.
• Provide real-time virtual inter-collaborative nursing assistance to on-site care teams nationwide.
• Apply seasoned skills to diverse patient needs across admissions, transfers, transitions of care, and vital support tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Nursing, BSN Degree.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
• Three (3) years of RN Med Surg experience in an acute care facility.
• Three (3) years of nursing preceptor experience.
• Two (2) years in a nursing leadership role (Charge RN role applicable).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA).
• Certified Acute-Care Virtual Registered Nurse (CAVRN) within 12 months, or 1000 hours worked.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five (5+) years of RN Med Surg experience in an acute care facility.
• Master’s in Nursing, MSN.
