About the role
As an Underwriting Manager for Large Corporate Insurance at NFU Mutual, you’ll lead a team responsible for assessing and pricing complex risks for our corporate clients. This role plays a key part in balancing risk and opportunity while maintaining our reputation for fair, customer-centric underwriting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the underwriting process for large corporate insurance policies, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of underwriters to deliver high-quality risk assessments and pricing decisions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders to support business growth.
- Analyse market trends, claims data, and financial reports to inform underwriting strategies and risk appetite.
- Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and risk management teams to refine underwriting practices and improve profitability.
- Drive operational efficiency through process improvements and the adoption of new technologies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in underwriting large corporate or commercial insurance risks, with a track record of leadership in a similar role.
- Strong technical underwriting skills, including knowledge of policy wordings, pricing models, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., Solvency II).
- Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities, with a focus on balancing risk and commercial opportunity.
- Experience managing and developing teams, with a commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications or equivalent professional accreditation (e.g., ACII, FCII) are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
