Just N Life with Nekia Nichelle is a lifestyle and entertainment series featuring engaging conversations, culture, wellness, beauty, fashion, food, entrepreneurship, and everyday inspiration. The show produces content for television, streaming, YouTube, digital platforms, and social media. While the actual television show is produced separately, this role supports the digital content surrounding the show, including behind-the-scenes video, photo content, short-form clips, social media moments, event coverage, promotional content, and lifestyle content featuring Nekia Nichelle, guests, brand partners, and Just N Life experiences.
About the Role
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Videographer/Photographer Intern to support the digital content needs of Just N Life with Nekia Nichelle. This role involves capturing high-quality video and photo content in person, identifying strong behind-the-scenes moments, and editing content into polished digital assets for social media, YouTube Shorts, websites, promotional use, and other digital platforms. This is an in-person internship for candidates located in Chicago. Your work may be featured across Just N Life’s digital platforms, social media channels, promotional materials, and brand content.
Responsibilities
- Capture behind-the-scenes video during content days, events, interviews, appearances, lifestyle outings, and brand-related moments connected to Just N Life. Document natural moments of Nekia Nichelle, guests, team members, products, locations, event details, and lifestyle experiences.
- Take photos and short video clips for social media, recaps, promotional content, web features, and digital storytelling. Identify strong visual moments that help the audience feel connected to Nekia, the show, and the broader Just N Life brand.
- Capture clean, polished photo content for social media, websites, newsletters, promotional recaps, and digital campaigns, including portraits, candid moments, product shots, event details, guest interactions, and lifestyle visuals.
- Assist with selecting and organizing strong images that support the visual identity of Just N Life and Nekia Nichelle’s digital presence. Perform basic photo edits, such as cropping, brightness adjustments, color correction, and light retouching.
- Capture and edit short-form content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and other digital platforms. Turn events, interviews, outings, and brand moments into engaging social-first content by identifying strong moments, quotes, reactions, visuals, and storylines.
- Edit behind-the-scenes clips, lifestyle moments, event recaps, promotional videos, and social-first content. Transform raw footage into clean, engaging edits that align with the tone and visual identity of Just N Life. Create vertical, horizontal, and square versions of content as needed.
- Add subtitles, titles, transitions, logos, music, and approved graphics to video content. Ensure names, titles, spelling, brand information, and guest details are accurate before submission. Maintain a clean and polished look consistent with the Just N Life brand.
- Assist with basic audio cleanup, sound balancing, color correction, framing, and visual enhancements. Flag footage with technical issues and communicate concerns to the team.
- Format and export videos according to platform specifications for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, websites, and other digital platforms. Tailor content for mobile-first viewing and short-form engagement.
- Maintain organized project files, raw footage, photos, graphics, music, exports, and completed content. Follow file-naming, storage, and version-control procedures to ensure content is easy to find and repurpose.
- Complete assigned content tasks according to deadlines and make revisions based on feedback. Communicate clearly about project progress, missing materials, or delays. Support both in-person content capture and independent editing assignments.
Qualifications
- Must be located in Chicago or the surrounding area and available for in-person content days, events, interviews, appearances, and scheduled opportunities.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or training in film, media production, communications, digital media, photography, content creation, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience capturing video and photo content through school, personal projects, freelance work, internships, or content creation.
- Comfortable filming behind-the-scenes content, social media video, event content, and lifestyle visuals.
- Comfortable taking photos of people, products, events, environments, and candid moments.
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or similar editing software.
- Familiarity with photo editing tools such as Lightroom, Photoshop, Canva, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Basic understanding of photo and video composition, lighting, framing, and audio.
- Strong sense of pacing, storytelling, and visual presentation.
- Familiarity with Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other short-form platforms.
- Basic knowledge of captions, export settings, audio editing, and visual cleanup.
- Able to follow creative direction and make revisions.
- Strong attention to detail and file organization.
- Comfortable managing multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Professional, dependable, and able to communicate clearly in talent, guest, event, and brand environments.

We are looking for someone who is creative, dependable, observant, and committed to improving their craft. You must be able to capture content with intention, follow instructions, meet deadlines, and communicate when you need support. This role focuses on behind-the-scenes content, social media assets, photo content, promotional clips, event recaps, and digital storytelling to enhance Just N Life’s online visibility. Confidentiality is essential, as interns may have access to unreleased content, guest interviews, brand partnerships, and internal materials. This is a professional media and digital content role—how you capture content, communicate, manage files, handle feedback, and complete assignments will directly impact Just N Life’s digital presence.
Schedule
This is a part-time internship combining in-person content capture, independent editing assignments, virtual meetings, and scheduled deadlines. Some evening or weekend availability may be required based on events, content opportunities, and publishing schedules. Applicants must be located in Chicago or the surrounding area and have reliable transportation to scheduled content locations.
Equipment and Software
Applicants should have access to a reliable computer, stable internet connection, and professional or semi-professional video-editing software. A phone or camera capable of capturing quality photo and video content is required. Access to basic photography or video equipment is a plus but not mandatory for every assignment. Additional details regarding content needs, footage access, storage systems, and workflows will be provided during onboarding.
