Primary Responsibilities
- Provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients.
- Verbal redirection of patients from at-risk behaviors.
- Sums up the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance via communication device or STAT Alert Alarm.
- Supports patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.
- Uses Video Monitoring (VM) software proficiently.
- Maintains visual observation at all times.
- Verbal redirection of patients using a digital 2-way audio device.
- Immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
- Provides appropriate care based on the patient's individualized treatment plan as delegated by the RN.
- Participates in hand-off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients.
- Explain to the patient as necessary but does not consult or provide opinions.
- Demonstrates behaviors in line with Service Excellence.
- Seeks help or advice promptly when the patient poses a threat to themselves or others.
- Collaboratively identifies and reports patient safety issues.
- Affirms patient environment safety and removes any potential safety hazards.
- Ensures patient environment safety.
- Follows safe work practices and attitudes, adheres to safety rules, prevents unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and department safety programs.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Effective verbal, electronic, and written communications skills using the English language.
- Computer proficiency required, with ability to learn new software.
- Ability to maintain a variable work schedule to meet department needs (evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and travel).
- Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse populations.
- Work independently, be self-directed, and contribute as a member of a team.
- Anticipate challenges and develop strategies to address them.
- High level of service delivery.
- Initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing situations.
- Attention to detail.
