About the role
The Monitor Tech provides support services, including basic computer keyboarding, tearing down and assembling patient charts, calling other departments to inform them of ordered tests and procedures, and stocking supplies. The Monitor Tech monitors and interprets patient heart rhythms and vital signs, follows set algorithm parameters that may raise alarms, and interprets alarms to ensure appropriate communication. Depending on location, the Monitor Tech may also provide continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients, summoning nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
Responsibilities
- Basic computer keyboarding skills
- Tear down and assemble patient charts as appropriate
- Call other departments to inform them of ordered tests and procedures
- Stock supplies
- Monitor and interpret patient heart rhythms and vital signs
- Follow set algorithm parameters and interpret alarming events
- Follow through with appropriate communication as needed
- Provide continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients (location-dependent)
- Summon nursing staff if the patient requires assistance
Requirements
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required
- Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred
Pay
$17.50 - $24.00 per hour
