Video Editor
Overview
We're looking for an exceptional editor who can transform complex ideas, breakthrough moments, and human experiences into compelling content that resonates with audiences around the world. This person will play a critical role in shaping how people understand Joby's mission—from quick-turn social content and major company announcements to cinematic brand films, technical storytelling, and long-form documentary content.
Responsibilities
- Edit a wide range of content, from fast-turn social edits and event recaps to cinematic brand films and long-form storytelling projects
- Shape compelling narratives that connect audiences to Joby's mission, technology, customers, and people
- Serve as a central force in our content engine, helping transform ideas, footage, and creative concepts into impactful stories
- Partner closely with our in-house videographer, photographer, motion designer, and communications team to bring stories to life
- Collaborate with engineers, team leaders, executives, flight test teams, and other stakeholders across the organization to identify stories, translate complex topics, and create content that supports both internal and external audiences
- Produce content for a variety of purposes, including public-facing campaigns, company announcements, executive communications, recruiting initiatives, presentations, events, and internal storytelling
- Develop story structures, rough cuts, and final edits that balance creative excellence with speed and efficiency
- Collaborate on graphics, animations, and other visual storytelling elements that support the narrative
- Help establish repeatable editing workflows, templates, and best practices that elevate the team's output
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, often across overlapping
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree + 5 years of professional editing experience, or advanced degree + 3 years, or equivalent experience
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe After Effects and familiarity with motion graphics workflows
- Demonstrated ability to craft compelling narratives from a variety of source material, including interviews, vérité footage, events, and archival content
- Strong sense of pacing, music selection, sound design, and emotional storytelling
- Able to take projects from concept through final delivery with a high degree of autonomy
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both creative teams and technical subject matter experts
- Comfortable stepping behind the camera when needed, whether capturing supplemental footage, supporting productions, or helping bring a story across the finish line
- Experience creating content for technology, aerospace, automotive, transportation, or other highly technical industries
- Experience editing documentary-style content, episodic series, podcasts, or interview-driven storytelling
- Familiarity with color grading, audio mixing, and motion design workflows
- Understanding of production workflows and on-set collaboration
Desired Skills
- Experience operating professional cinema, mirrorless, or broadcast camera systems
- Photography or cinematography experience with a strong visual storytelling sensibility
- FAA Part 107 certification or drone operation experience is a plus
Additional Information
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $104,000 - $175,000/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
