Video Communications Engineer
About the role
The position involves travel to and support at all Advocate Health locations. Key responsibilities include completing assigned tasks, navigating Service Now, engaging senior engineers, facilitating training, identifying process improvements, collaborating on technology solutions, interacting with business partners, and managing video conferencing and digital media services.
Responsibilities
- Completes assigned tasks without supervision.
- Navigate Service Now and complete tickets involving work across multiple applications within SLA intervals.
- Engage senior level engineer as needed.
- Understand procedural documentation and offer process improvement recommendations.
- Facilitate and deliver end-user training to enhance user adoption and proficiency.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance the training process, improving the overall user experience.
- Collaborate with the team in planning and preparing for the execution of technology solutions with minimal supervision and guidance.
- Interact with our business partners and customers to define scope, gather requirements and outcomes as part of a project or initiative with little supervision and guidance.
- Involved as part of a team that includes our vendors and other technical teams in creating an architectural design that can produce a Bill of Materials to provide a budget estimate for our customers.
- Configure dial plans, call policies and service maintenance within Cisco and Polycom UC infrastructures.
- Operate Crestron AV control systems, Cisco and Polycom codec’s, MCU’s, Gatekeepers, B2B Servers and associated AV equipment.
- Participate in designing AV conference room technologies as well as facilitate proper equipment placement to meet the needs of the business.
- Manage the implementation and maintenance of databases and directories associated with video conference services for existing and new users.
- May install or assist vendors with the installation and maintenance of software and hardware systems related to UC technologies.
- Perform various system upgrades and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Maintain a robust knowledge of current, future, and emerging technologies and introduce key stakeholders to the technological capabilities and their application to further the strategic direction of the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent knowledge).
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Video Communications.
- Strong written and verbal communications.
- Strong research, analysis, design skills.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure components and programming requirements for those components.
- Able to create basic architectural design documentation with some supervision.
- Able to participate and interact with various teams during solution selection, design sessions.
- Basic Infrastructure knowledge in key solutions like DNS, DHCP, Network Layer, IP Scheme, VOIP, Server, Storage and virtual technologies.
Qualifications
- Physical Requirements: Requires callback support on regular basis, evening and weekend work, ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Skills & Abilities
- Preferred Certification/License/Registration: Microsoft Certified Professional Certification.
- Preferred Education: BS in Computer Science, IT or related.
- Preferred Experience: 5 years of video communications experience.
