Victim Witness Restitution Clerk - Per Diem

Position Summary

Performs the duties necessary to provide support and assistance to the Victim/Witness Unit staff in advocating for crime victims regarding their right to restitution under Pennsylvania law.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Receiving and processing all restitution requests submitted for criminal cases.
  • Screens of all restitution forms for accuracy/completeness and contacting victims as necessary to obtain required documentation and/or clarification.
  • Ensuring that restitution paperwork is placed in the case file or given to the assigned attorney in a timely manner, prior to the disposition of the case.
  • Entering victim information into the Common Pleas Case Management system for payment.
  • Sending disposition letters and restitution information to victims when restitution is ordered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice/legal system, with experience in working with victims/witnesses of crime, preferred.
  • Experience with word processing and computer software, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and related office systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
