Victim Services Advocate/Coordinator

About the role

This position is located in the Special Victims Unit within the Investigative Services Division and is statewide. This position is grant-funded.

Responsibilities

• Interact with victims and families who have experienced violent crime, assist them with navigating the justice system, and coordinate the appropriate services.
• Develop and present standardized, state-wide best practices training to Victim Services Advocates.
• Host or coordinate victim support meetings and symposiums.
• Work with other victim services programs with the District Attorney’s offices, tribes, and United States Attorney’s Office.
• Educate OSBI agents, criminalists, and other OSBI teams regarding OSBI victim support services.
• Develop, collect, and distribute materials to provide to victims and families to ensure they have the information needed to receive support services.
• Follow up with victims and families to ensure they are receiving the services they need.

Requirements

Education and Experience requirements consist of a bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of professional level experience for each year of the required education.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

• Knowledge of methods of organization and management; public administration; agency policies and procedures; grant or contract program requirements; the legislative process; basic research and statistical techniques; federal and state laws and regulations relating to administration of assigned programs; and supervisory principles and practices.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; establish and develop training programs; exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions; and organize and present facts and opinions.
