Victim Advocate - Bisbee

About the role

The Victim Advocate position plays a crucial role in supporting crime victims and their families through the legal process. The position involves providing assistance, training to volunteer advocates, and court accompaniment.

Responsibilities

• Orients victims, witnesses, and family members to the court process and explains their rights.
• Makes referrals to social service agencies and compensation programs.
• Provides court accompaniment for victims and witnesses.
• Trains volunteer advocates.
• Aids in report preparation.
• Interviews victims, witnesses, and significant individuals as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• One (1) year of experience in teaching or social service.
• Valid Arizona driver's license and ability to be covered by county insurance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Arizona criminal justice system procedures and process.
• Knowledge of Arizona Victims' Rights Statutes or ability to obtain.
• Knowledge of community resources and state/county regulations and procedures.
• Ability to interview and investigate effectively.
• Ability to maintain statistical data and write reports.

Skills

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to interact with diverse populations.
• Ability to handle emotionally charged situations.
• Statistical data maintenance and report writing skills.

Benefits

Pay

$21.70 hourly.
