Responsibilities
- Oversee and participate in marketing activities to ensure a steady flow of RFPs.
- Builds relationships with present and prospective clients.
- Prepare written proposals to include scope and fees that accurately describe the project and include required assumptions and exclusions to protect the firm.
- Prepare fees that ensure profit but are competitive enough to win.
- Participates in proposal presentations and negotiations.
- Assigns staff to projects & oversee project kick off meetings.
- Participate in project supervision as required to ensure successful projects.
- Support PM’s by stepping in where required in meetings and communications with both clients and staff.
- Cook up scheduling of staff and project deadlines.
- Ensures billing and profitability are met so that the Columbia office is profitable every month and hat the majority of the projects are profitable.
- Has a thorough understanding of construction process.
- Promotes use of and participates in development of company design and production standards.
- Assists in the education and development of design staff and acts as resource for design questions.
- Evaluates performance of staff and make recommendations for appropriate actions as necessary.
- Maintain and improve quality control procedures as these relate to design, budget and schedule objectives.
- Prepare and execute big picture plan with Regional VP & President of Engineering to properly staff and grow our office.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 10 years of experience.
- Must understand all appropriate codes and LEED requirements.
- Must have a strong working knowledge and experience with the following software: AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software.
- Must have demonstrated experience in making decisions, judgment, and effective problem solving.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent planning, delegation, and time management skills.
- PE certification required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
