About the role
The Vice President, Value Capture & Vertical Integration will own the enterprise pricing technology roadmap, lead the enterprise pricing platform implementation, stand up the enterprise Deal Desk and the Pricing Science & Analytics capability, and drive the integration of enterprise pricing into each business vertical. This role is where pricing strategy becomes a durable, systematized capability.
Responsibilities
- Own the multi-year enterprise pricing technology roadmap, including sequencing, funding, and capability milestones across price setting, price optimization, quote governance, and CPQ.
- Set the target-state architecture for pricing: source systems, data foundation, price books, rules engine, optimization layer, quoting, and downstream ERP execution.
- Establish the build/buy/configure posture and make architecture trade-off decisions in close partnership with the CIO and enterprise data teams.
- Manage vendor and implementation partner relationships, including scope, commercials, delivery quality, and escalation.
- Serve as the accountable executive for the enterprise pricing platform implementation end to end — delivery, adoption, and realized value.
- Build and own the integration plan for each business vertical — Building Products, Heritage (Pool and Landscape), GMS, and Mingledorff's.
- Stand up the enterprise Deal Desk from concept through steady-state operation: charter, staffing model, service levels, thresholds, decision rights, and escalation paths.
- Build the pricing science capability: elasticity estimation, willingness-to-pay modeling, customer and transaction segmentation, price-response testing, and optimization methodology.
- Own the enterprise value capture agenda: quantify the opportunity, build the initiative portfolio, and track realized versus modeled impact with rigor.
Requirements
- 12+ years across pricing, revenue management, commercial analytics, pricing technology, or related commercial leadership roles, including experience building new capabilities.
- Hands-on ownership of at least one enterprise pricing platform implementation (Pricefx, Vendavo, PROS, Zilliant, or comparable) through go-live and value realization.
- Experience standing up or significantly evolving a deal desk, quote governance function, or equivalent commercial capability.
- Demonstrated leadership of quantitative teams — data science, pricing science, or advanced analytics — including ownership of methodology as well as people.
- Experience in B2B distribution, building products, industrial distribution, wholesale, or another multi-site, field-led commercial environment.
- Fluency with pricing methodology: segmentation, elasticity, optimization, price waterfall, guardrail and corridor design, cost-to-serve, and rebate economics.
Qualifications
- Preferred background in specialty building materials, roofing, HVAC, pool, landscape, gypsum, electrical, plumbing, or industrial distribution.
- Multi-vertical or roll-up platforms with heterogeneous ERP and pricing environments.
- Pricing transformation leadership under private equity or strategic-acquirer ownership.
- Prior consulting background in pricing or commercial excellence, paired with subsequent in-house operating experience.
- Advanced degree in economics, statistics, operations research, engineering, or an MBA with quantitative depth.
Skills
- Platform ownership: comfortable owning an enterprise implementation end to end — scope, sequencing, architecture, delivery, adoption, and realized value.
- Quantitative depth: understands pricing methods well enough to engage with them substantively, and can tell the difference between a genuine demand signal and a market echo.
- Integration judgment: can define what "center-led" means for each vertical, balancing enterprise consistency with local commercial needs.
- Governance design: builds decision rights and exception paths that are fast enough to be used and clear enough to be trusted.
- Commercial credibility: earns the confidence of business presidents and sales leaders, and sustains it through meaningful change.
- Talent building: attracts and develops quantitative and technical talent, and creates an environment where that work is valued.
- Transparency: reports realized value accurately and shares what is working alongside what still needs attention.
- Accountability: owns dates, numbers, and outcomes, and keeps implementation risk and margin leakage visible and actively managed.
