Vice President, Strategic Purchasing & Purchasing

About the role

This leader will oversee the development and execution of enterprise-wide sourcing and procurement capabilities that support organizational growth. The role will shape supplier strategy, strengthen governance, and improve spend visibility across the business. It will partner closely with Finance and key stakeholders to drive savings, manage supplier risk, and support disciplined commercial decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead strategic sourcing and procurement functions to support growth
• Serve as an advisor on sourcing strategy and supplier risk management
• Lead high-value RFPs and supplier selection processes with stakeholders
• Oversee negotiation strategies for material agreements to benefit the company
• Manage a strategic supplier relationship program with lifecycle governance
• Drive enterprise spend visibility to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Partner with Finance to strengthen budgeting and procurement practices

Qualifications

• 15+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement, or vendor management experience in pharma/biotechnology
• Proven success in building enterprise procurement functions in high-growth environments
• Strong capabilities in outsourcing-driven savings initiatives
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
• Executive-level knowledge of drug development and commercialization processes
• Extensive experience in complex supplier negotiations and contract management
• Strong financial acumen related to procurement and spend management

Location: Bedford, MA - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $227,000 – $345,000 annually
