About the role

Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities include Risk Management and Physical Security. The role oversees monitoring and response to ongoing fraudulent activity and accounts within one or more regions to identify current and emerging threats.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts, documents and communicates in-depth investigations of internal and external fraud and security events and works with direct reports and frontline staff to mitigate further risks.
  • Works with management to implement procedures to detect and prevent the occurrence of fraudulent, illegal or improper activities.
  • Acts as a liaison to local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as to legal counsel and customers on matters relating to fraudulent, illegal or improper activities.
  • Coordinates response to emergency events at Bank offices, providing support and assistance to employees and law enforcement.
  • Creates a comprehensive security and fraud training program for all Bank employees.
  • Implements strategies and tactics to mitigate threats and minimize losses of the Bank and its customers.
  • Oversees Fraud & Security Officer(s) outreach and maintains strong relationships with police departments and other law enforcement agencies and Bank attorneys.
  • Remains informed of industry practices in the security field and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Assists Operations and Legal Services as needed in response to subpoenas and legal service and monitors activity as it relates to fraud and security objectives.
  • Oversees Risk Division overdraft management activities and reviews risk reports and communications to detect and mitigate risk.
  • Gathers pertinent data to report on security and fraud related activity and develops annual Board level security reporting for one or more regions.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least 5+ years’ experience in direct Security/Risk Management in a banking environment required.
  • Knowledge of general banking industry regulation, bank security requirements, and general bank operations required.
  • CFE, industry security or similar certification desired.
  • Possess strong research, organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative and produce accurate work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to deliver professional and responsive internal customer service.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word and the ability to learn and utilize multiple software applications.
