About The Role

The Transport, Logistics, and Automotive (TLA) sector within ING Wholesale Banking develops corporate and investment banking business across the TLA sectors globally. Based in New York, the Americas team delivers wholesale banking solutions—including financing, advisory, financial market solutions, and transaction services—to clients in Shipping, Intermodal Transportation, Rail, and Aviation.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate client strategy and manage relationships in the Shipping and Intermodal transportation sectors, collaborating with product specialists, country coverage bankers, and other stakeholders to originate new business, lead deals, and maintain the existing portfolio.
  • Lead origination efforts, assist with deal structuring, and coordinate with product teams to deliver multi-product solutions, achieving cross-sell and return objectives.
  • Support Managing Directors and Directors in originating and structuring financing solutions, with a focus on Shipping, Intermodal Transportation, Rail, and Aviation. Responsibilities include client onboarding, KYC, preparing pitches, and structuring capital or M&A transactions.
  • Develop and maintain close client relationships as the primary contact, coordinating pitch materials to secure new mandates.
  • Drive sector income, fee, cross-sell, ESG, and other financial/non-financial KPIs.
  • Provide leadership to deal teams, ensuring efficient resource allocation and execution, and oversee client marketing and transaction origination.
  • Identify and monitor developments and opportunities within the Shipping and Intermodal Transport sectors.
  • Train and coach junior team members, assuming a deputy oversight role over deal teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Math.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience, ideally in the North American Transportation industry.
  • Expertise in corporate and structured loan origination, with a focus on North American Shipping and Intermodal Transportation.
  • Strong credit skills and understanding of debt capital markets.
  • Proven ability to structure and execute deals in corporate/investment banking.
  • Track record in origination and cross-selling products like financial markets, DCM, M&A advisory, and transaction services.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across functions and regions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional demeanor.
  • Series 79/63 or commitment to obtain within 6 months of joining.

Pay

Base salary range: $185,000 - $240,000. This role is eligible for a discretionary bonus program.
