Vice President, Sales (Injection)

About the role
We are seeking a Vice President of Sales to join our team in Batavia, OH. In this executive-level position, you will provide leadership to a high-performing sales organization, drive revenue growth across capital equipment and aftermarket product lines, and lead the strategic direction, performance, and culture of the sales function within a high-volume injection molding manufacturing environment. Relocation assistance may be available for candidates outside the Greater Cincinnati area.
Responsibilities
- Sales Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of 35 sales associates spanning direct field sales, regional account managers, and inside sales functions across multiple territories.
- Establish clear performance expectations, KPIs, and accountability structures; conduct regular pipeline reviews, territory analyses, and individual performance evaluations.
- Design and implement onboarding programs, ongoing training curricula, and sales methodology frameworks to continuously elevate team capability and effectiveness.
- Champion the adoption and effective use of AI-enabled sales tools and technologies, driving productivity, sales effectiveness, data-driven decision-making, and enhanced customer engagement.
- Build a high-performance sales culture grounded in integrity, customer focus, and competitive urgency; identify and develop future sales leaders from within the organization.
- Collaborate with HR to attract, retain, and develop top-tier sales talent, including succession planning for key roles.
- Revenue Growth & Business Strategy
- Own full P&L accountability for the sales organization; develop and manage annual revenue budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation plans aligned with corporate growth targets.
- Define and execute a comprehensive go-to-market strategy for both capital injection molding equipment and aftermarket revenue streams including tooling, maintenance contracts, and spare parts.
- Identify new market opportunities, vertical segments, and strategic accounts; lead high-value enterprise negotiations and close complex, multi-million-dollar deals.
- Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and pricing strategies to position the company for sustained competitive advantage.
- Drive cross-sell and upsell initiatives to maximize share of wallet across the existing customer base while expanding into new accounts and geographies.
- Customer & Market Relationships
- Serve as a senior executive sponsor for key strategic accounts, maintaining C-suite relationships and ensuring exceptional customer experience at every touchpoint.
- Translate customer business objectives, operational challenges, and strategic priorities into quantifiable economic value propositions, ROI-based business cases, and commercial solutions that support customer investment decisions.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to align customer requirements with production capabilities, lead times, and technical solutions.
- Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and customer events; actively develop the company’s presence and brand within the plastics and injection molding sector.
- Establish and maintain a robust voice-of-customer program to inform product development, service improvements, and competitive positioning.
- Cross-Functional & Executive Leadership
- Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to corporate strategy, business planning, and executive decision-making.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop demand generation programs, sales collateral, and product launch strategies that accelerate pipeline development.
- Partner with finance to build accurate revenue forecasts, manage sales budgets, and provide data-driven business insights to the board and ownership.
- Work closely with customer service and operations to ensure seamless order fulfillment, on-time delivery, and post-sale satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field required; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in capital equipment sales within industrial manufacturing, plastics, or a related sector.
- Proven experience leading multi-site or regional sales teams of 25+ associates, including managing leaders of leaders.
- Demonstrated success driving revenue growth across both capital equipment and aftermarket product/service lines.
- Extensive experience managing complex, high-value enterprise sales cycles.
- Background in injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, or related plastics processing technologies preferred.
- Experience operating in a private equity-backed or publicly traded manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong business acumen with full P&L ownership and the ability to develop and execute multi-year commercial strategies.
- Proficiency in CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred), sales analytics tools, and pipeline management.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive-level negotiation skills.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to build collaborative, high-performing teams.
- Ability to travel up to 40%, including overnight and occasional international travel.
