About the Role

The Vice President of Sales – Commercial & Industrial (C&I) will provide strategic leadership to drive growth and expand Acuity’s market leadership across diverse commercial and industrial segments, including office, education, healthcare, warehouse, and stock/discretionary business. This role partners with the independent sales network and internal teams to execute strategies positioning Acuity as the preferred provider of innovative lighting and controls solutions. The position oversees teams across North America and Latin America, ensuring alignment with Acuity’s broader commercial objectives while accelerating market penetration through channel partnerships, productivity improvements, and data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing sales organization and independent sales network to outpace market growth while meeting operational objectives.
  • Define and execute the go-to-market strategy, aligning priorities with Acuity Brands Lighting (ABL) and corporate goals.
  • Build an agile, high-velocity team capable of adapting to changing environments, with a strong bench of future sales leaders.
  • Energize and guide the sales team and independent network to execute strategies and achieve sales targets.
  • Develop organizational capability by cultivating top talent and ensuring a robust succession pipeline.
  • Drive accountability through clear expectations, goals, and performance management.
  • Navigate channel conflict, make bold decisions, and drive change with a data-supported approach.
  • Engage directly with the marketplace—including distributors, contractors, specifiers, and end-users—to gather insights and communicate customer needs across the organization.
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop and present sales forecasts, identifying key trends and indicators.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the lighting, electrical, or related industry.
  • Proven track record as a charismatic leader, team player, and motivator with exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Passion for listening, learning, and developing leaders while embracing challenges and solving complex problems.
  • Bias toward action, challenging the status quo, and making data-driven decisions.
  • Strong business acumen and P&L understanding, with awareness of how decisions impact financial outcomes.

Travel required: 61-80%.
