Vice President, Production

About the role

This position is responsible for the direction, coordination, and overall management of the production department.

Responsibilities

• Strategic planning and development of long-range production requirements, including acquisition of new equipment, personnel, and production line design.
• Analyze and streamline the production processes, including specialized cutting.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
• Ensure production compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
• Accountable for the safety of employees in production floor operations.
• Training and administrative support for supervisors and employees.
• Scheduling of production department.
• Execution of daily production plan.
• Responsible for controlling production costs.
• Procurement of raw material for production requirements.
• In-plant and off-plant business customer service/support.
• Know and understand the company’s safety and health goals and objectives; assist in achieving these goals by participating in the safety program.
• Conduct periodic safety inspections of the department and address any safety issues immediately.
• Train and promote safe work practices; use observations to check on employees’ work habits.
• Use the company’s disciplinary policy to enforce safe work practices.
• Promote participation in the safety program to all employees.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations (such as OSHA, DOT, EPA, and FDA) as directed by management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in management and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong organizational ability.
• Bi-lingual in English and Spanish (very helpful).
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference to practical situations.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing and walking.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Works principally in cold and wet conditions.
