About the role
This position is responsible for the direction, coordination, and overall management of the production department.
Responsibilities
- Strategic planning and development of long-range production requirements, including acquisition of new equipment, personnel, and production line design.
- Analyze and streamline the production processes, including specialized cutting.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
- Ensure production compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
- Accountable for the safety of employees in production floor operations.
- Training and administrative support for supervisors and employees.
- Scheduling of production department.
- Execution of daily production plan.
- Responsible for controlling production costs.
- Procurement of raw material for production requirements.
- In-plant and off-plant business customer service/support.
- Know and understand the company’s safety and health goals and objectives; assist in achieving these goals by participating in the safety program.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections of the department and address any safety issues immediately.
- Train and promote safe work practices; use observations to check on employees’ work habits.
- Use the company’s disciplinary policy to enforce safe work practices.
- Promote participation in the safety program to all employees.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations (such as OSHA, DOT, EPA, and FDA) as directed by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in management and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong organizational ability.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish (very helpful).
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference to practical situations.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
Works principally in cold and wet conditions.
