Your ideas should inspire change. If you join our team, they will. Responsibilities Product at SCA Health has historically lived inside an engineering function — which means product strategy has been subordinated to delivery capacity, and 'new capability' has remained perpetually undefined. This role changes that. The VP, Product is a new leadership position that elevates product strategy to a first-class discipline with direct CIO reporting and a mandate to define what SCA Health builds, for whom, and why. You will build the product operating model from scratch — establishing how SCA discovers, prioritizes, builds, and measures digital products across three distinct user populations: patients and their families, physicians and clinical staff, and facility operators and administrators. You will own the product vision for a 300+ facility network and will be the bridge between clinical and operational stakeholder needs and the engineering and data capabilities that serve them. This role is the foundational hire for the product function. The first priority is bringing clarity — naming the portfolio, defining the operating model, and establishing the cadences and governance that let great product work happen consistently. The second priority is setting an ambitious product vision and executing against it. The opportunity is to bring structure, discipline, and strategic leadership to a large and consequential portfolio — and to build the product function that SCA Health needs to compete and grow in the ambulatory surgery market over the next five years. Core Accountabilities: Product Strategy & Vision. Define SCA Health's product strategy across the patient, clinician, and facility operations domains. Own the multi-year product roadmap, translate enterprise strategic priorities into product bets, and make explicit prioritization decisions when demand exceeds capacity.Product Operating Model. Build the operating model that governs how product work gets done at SCA — discovery practices, intake and prioritization, delivery rhythm, measurement frameworks, and the relationship between Product, Engineering, and Data & AI. This infrastructure doesn't exist yet. Building it is your most important first-year deliverable.New Capability Incubation. Inherit a portfolio of 'immature' and undefined capability initiatives. Audit, name, scope, and make explicit decisions about each: accelerate, restructure, or retire. Establish a structured incubation model with time-boxed experiments, clear success criteria, and transparent graduation/retirement gates.Patient & Clinical Product Domain. Own the product strategy for patient-facing digital experiences and clinical workflow tools — scheduling, access, pre/post-op digital journey, physician performance dashboards, and the clinical decision support interfaces that AI will eventually power.Facility Operations Product Domain. Own the product strategy for operational tools that improve facility throughput, OR utilization, supply chain efficiency, and staff management. These products directly impact EBITDA at the facility level and require deep operational partnership with COO, VP SCO and facility leadership.Product Design & User Experience. Build SCA's shared design capability — UX research practice, interaction design, the SCA Health design system, and accessibility standards. Ensure that every product SCA builds meets clinical usability and patient health literacy requirements.Stakeholder Engagement & Product Council. Chair SCA Health's Product Council — the governance body that aligns product priorities with enterprise strategy, resolves prioritization conflicts, and ensures clinical and operational stakeholders have a voice in what gets built.Build vs. Buy Strategy. Own the make-or-source decision framework for the product portfolio. Assess vendor solutions rigorously against build options and ensure every buy decision preserves SCA's ability to integrate, customize, and own the user experience. Qualifications Required Experience: 10+ years in product management, with 4+ years at Director or VP level in healthcare or health technologyDemonstrated experience building product operating models and product culture — not just managing an existing oneDeep understanding of clinical workflows, physician experience, and patient digital engagement in a healthcare settingExperience owning products at the intersection of clinical and operational domains (scheduling, care coordination, facility ops)Track record of shipping meaningful products that changed measurable business outcomes — not just featuresExperience managing design (UX) as an integral part of the product functionStrong executive communication and stakeholder management skills — able to represent the user in rooms full of operational and financial pressure Preferred Experience: Ambulatory surgery, ASC, or multi-site specialty care experienceExperience building products on or alongside EHR platforms (Epic, Athena, Meditech)Familiarity with FDA-regulated software and SaMD considerations for digital health productsExperience embedding AI/ML capabilities into clinical or operational product experiencesTrack record building physician-facing products and earning physician trust at the partnership levelExperience in a PE-backed or high-growth, multi-site healthcare organization Product Craft Expected: Outcome-based product management — measures success in clinical and business results, not feature delivery velocityDiscovery discipline — validates problems and solutions rigorously before committing to buildPrioritization rigor — makes explicit trade-offs and defends them with evidence, not politicsDesign partnership — treats UX as a strategic capability, not a service functionData fluency — uses product analytics and clinical data to drive roadmap decisionsBuild/buy judgment — evaluates vendor solutions with appropriate skepticism and specificity Leadership Profile: Earns trust from clinicians by demonstrating clinical context — knows what an OR day actually looks likeComfortable operating without a fully formed playbook — creates structure from ambiguityPartners authentically with Engineering — understands the cost of technical debt and respects engineering judgmentBuilds team identity and product culture — makes product management a career destination at SCA HealthGives and receives direct feedback — runs a team where honest assessment is the norm USD $225,000.00/Yr.
