Vice President, Preconstruction & Operations

About the Role

The Vice President of Preconstruction will lead and scale a national preconstruction function for a Top 10 ENR-ranked contractor, driving AI, analytics, and process innovation across a $13B business. This role offers a rare opportunity to shape a national preconstruction organization, influence business strategy, and contribute to the company's growth and innovation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the preconstruction function across a national construction platform.
• Drive organizational growth, scalability, and operational excellence within the department.
• Partner closely with operations and business leaders to align preconstruction strategies with company objectives.
• Champion process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, consistency, and quality.
• Leverage data, analytics, and emerging technologies to improve decision-making and business outcomes.
• Develop and mentor senior leadership talent while building a high-performing team culture.
• Establish best practices and standardization across regional offices.
• Support major pursuits involving complex, large-scale construction projects.
• Drive innovation initiatives, including AI and technology adoption within preconstruction workflows.
• Maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with operations, business unit leadership, and executive stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience within preconstruction, operations, or construction management.
• Demonstrated success leading large teams across multiple locations or regions.
• Strong understanding of preconstruction processes, estimating functions, and bid strategy.
• Business-minded leader with the ability to operate strategically at an executive level.
• Proven experience scaling departments, improving processes, and implementing organizational change.
• Background working on large, complex construction projects, ideally valued in the billions of dollars.
• Experience leveraging technology, data analytics, and digital tools to improve business performance.
• Strong executive presence with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Track record of driving operational improvements and organizational growth.
• Ability to travel nationally and lead within a geographically dispersed environment.
• Forward-thinking mindset with curiosity around innovation, automation, AI, and evolving industry trends.
