About the Role
The Vice President, Pharmacy Retail Operations (VP, PRO) will be responsible for the promotion and execution of pharmacy and healthcare services to Health Mart franchisees and McKesson pharmacies. This role identifies growth opportunities and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders. The VP, PRO serves as a resource for the field sales teams and plays a lead role on key region initiatives and priorities, working with various stakeholders within the healthcare system to address complex reimbursement systems, pharmacy workflow and efficiencies, front-of-store retail strategies, and other business approaches for retail pharmacy.
Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of retail pharmacy operations along with excellent project management, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Proven leadership and strategic vision capabilities, along with solid industry presence, are desired. The ability to communicate at all levels within the organization across business units and manage through influence to drive results is essential. This role requires a high level of autonomy.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive Health Mart and McKesson field and pharmacy engagement by ensuring improved financial, clinical, and operational performance.
- Serve as the primary strategy leader to determine educational needs of field teams, buying groups, and pharmacies on Health Mart and McKesson programs, initiatives, and the global retail pharmacy marketplace.
- Ensure flawless execution and compliance of Health Mart and McKesson programs and franchise requirements within the assigned region.
- Act as an advisor, pharmacy advocate, consultant, and business coach to store owners.
- Provide mentoring and coaching support to sales team members and facilitate training to pharmacies and field sales teams.
- Provide pharmacy industry thought leadership and clinical and retail expertise.
- Serve as a Health Mart spokesperson on specialized projects or programs and solutions.
- Act as prime consultant on large projects that affect McKesson and Health Mart’s long-term goals and objectives.
Requirements
- 10+ years’ experience in retail, pharmacy operations (chain or independent).
- Advanced knowledge of retail operations management and experience leading retail operational teams.
- Exemplary communication skills (verbal/written).
- Strong ability to influence and motivate.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience; fewer years required if holding relevant Master’s or Doctorate qualifications.
- Degree in pharmacy (PharmD), nursing, or a licensed advanced practice provider is ideal.
- MBA or advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of retail pharmacy systems.
- Third-party management experience.
- Pharmacy clinical practices knowledge.
- Knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Business acumen with the ability to foster innovation and collaboration.
Working Environment
- Remote work environment; field-based role.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record/MVR.
- Must live within the assigned regional territory: ME, NY, PA, NJ, VT, NH, CT, MA, RI.
- Ability to travel for store visits, meetings, and industry-related conferences (up to 50% travel required).
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer support or sponsorship.
Pay
Our Base Pay Range for this position is $123,400 - $205,600. This range is aligned with McKesson’s pay philosophy and compliant with applicable regulations. In addition to base pay, other compensation such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
