About the role

The Vice President of Public Affairs and Executive Director of the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts is responsible for leading the organization's external affairs and advocacy efforts. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this position oversees all public relations, media relations, and strategic communications initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance the organization’s reputation and support its mission.
  • Manage media relations, including press releases, interviews, and crisis communication plans.
  • Oversee social media campaigns to engage with constituents and promote the organization’s work.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment across all platforms.
  • Represent the organization at various events and meetings, both virtual and in-person.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to align public affairs goals with organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in public relations, communications, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successful public relations campaigns and media relations.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations and/or political campaigns is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a proven ability to craft compelling narratives and messages.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Strong understanding of public affairs, advocacy, and non-profit sector.
  • Experience with digital marketing and social media management.
  • Knowledge of legislative processes and policy development.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
