Vice President of Preventive Programs
About the role
The Vice President of Preventive Services provides executive leadership for HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS) preventive and family support programs, including Family Support Services, FTR, and Special Medical Prevention. This role oversees program strategy, operations, budgeting, staffing, and performance to ensure high-quality, compliant, and effective service delivery aligned with organizational and contractual standards.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary representative of HSVS Preventive Services at public forums, agency events, and meetings with governmental oversight bodies, city agencies, nonprofit partners, and public and private funders.
- Provide direct supervision to Prevention Directors, ensuring alignment with HSVS’s professional standards, safety and risk management protocols, and organizational values.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous professional development, and service delivery that is client-centered, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed.
- Ensure staff are fully trained in and effectively implement evidence-based and evidence-informed practices, with a focus on Solutions-Based Casework.
- Oversee compliance with ACS standards and contractual requirements, including timely intakes, client engagement, coordination with Child Protective Services (CPS) and Family Court Legal Services (FCLS), community collaboration, adherence to contact mandates, goal attainment, timely Family Team Conferences (FTCs) and Family Assessment Service Plans (FASPs), and accurate, timely documentation.
- Maintain strong staff engagement through regular site visits, reinforcing organizational culture, and ensuring program quality and consistency.
- Lead Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives and establish workgroups to address identified program needs and strengthen performance.
- Present comprehensive monthly program reports to the Senior Management Team, highlighting performance, challenges, and strategic opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to advance agency-wide priorities, integration, and strategic goals.
- Participate in required ACS and internal trainings to remain current on policy, practice, and regulatory expectations.
- Contribute to program development, including planning, proposal writing, and fundraising initiatives.
- Partner with the Fiscal Department and the DED/CPO to develop and manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal accountability and alignment with program goals.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the DED/CPO.
Requirements
NYS Licensed Master Social Worker with five to ten years’ experience in a leadership role in NYC child welfare /preventive services. Experience overseeing multiple programs simultaneously with strong clinical and supervisory skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also required, as well as being computer literate, and experience using Microsoft Office; Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Qualifications
- Masters or Doctoral Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Creative Arts Therapies or related degree.
