Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an aggressive, multi-year growth strategy for the Tennessee Valley/Huntsville region, aligning with corporate goals to capture new markets across prominent Redstone Arsenal commands.
- Apply detailed operational knowledge of the local corporate defense sector to identify, vet, and secure strategic teaming partners (large and small businesses) for joint ventures and sub/prime relationships.
- Align company technical capabilities with the specific modernization and weapon system lifecycles managed by Huntsville-based defense activities.
- Prepare and manage operational growth budgets, track capture pipelines, and maximize Return on Investment (ROI) on Bid & Proposal (B&P) expenditures.
- Position KGS as a premier thought leader through regional media relations, strategic press releases, and targeted digital content alignment.
- Maintain a highly visible presence within the corporate defense sector, leveraging marketing channels to highlight KGS's technical expertise, rapid delivery capacity, and contract vehicle accessibility.
- Act as the primary champion for KGS in Huntsville, building and nurturing deep relationships with key government decision-makers, DoD stakeholders, and industry executives.
- Represent KGS at major regional defense forums (e.g., MDA, AUSA, NDIA, SMDC Symposium) and local community/industry days to advocate for company capabilities and drive teaming opportunities.
- Lead the full lifecycle of capture and proposal development for high-priority opportunities, ensuring compelling, compliant, and differentiated, solution-focused proposals.
- Incorporate explicit Department of War (DOW) acquisition updates, rapid fielding priorities, and technical compliance requirements into winning proposal strategies.
- Capture and proposal leadership includes coordinating proposal efforts internally and externally, ensuring all messaging aligns with overarching strategic, marketing, and PR goals.
- Monitor competitive intelligence and industry trends to inform strategy, maintaining real-time awareness of evolving local command structures and procurement mechanisms.
- Identify long-term federal procurement opportunities and maintain a robust, formal opportunity pipeline database.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience: 10-15+ years of combined experience in federal business development, capture, and strategic marketing/PR within the Huntsville/DoW sector.
- Domain Expertise: High-level, specialized knowledge of Redstone Arsenal tenants (e.g., Army Materiel Command, PEO Missiles and Space, Aviation and Missile Command, MDA, SMDC), and deep familiarity with the Department of War (DOW) landscape.
- Teaming Network: Proven track record of navigating the corporate defense sector in Huntsville to secure lucrative teaming and joint venture agreements.
- Track Record: Proven success in capturing large government contracts ($50M+), successfully directing targeted defense marketing strategies, and consistently exceeding revenue targets.
- Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of the DoW procurement process, FAR/DFARS, local OTAs (Other Transaction Authorities), and rapidly evolving warfighting acquisition systems.
- Skills: Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions to diverse military and industry audiences.
