Responsibilities
- Own and lead the end-to-end permitting strategy, including federal (NEPA/EIS), state, and local approvals required for mine and infrastructure development
- Design and execute the regulatory pathway, engaging proactively with agencies such as USACE, BLM, and State of Alaska regulators
- Lead all environmental baseline and socioeconomic studies, ensuring technical rigor and alignment with permitting requirements
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with local communities, Alaska Native organizations, and key stakeholders, with a strong focus on long-term partnership and respect
- Lead government and stakeholder engagement at the highest levels, including navigating complex political, regulatory, and community dynamics
- Oversee consultants and internal teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and execution against permitting timelines
- Partner with technical and project teams to ensure permitting requirements are integrated into engineering, exploration, and development plans
- Report directly to executive leadership and the Board on permitting strategy, risks, and milestones
Requirements
- 10–15+ years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, permitting, or related roles within mining or natural resources.
- Experience permitting mining projects in Alaska strongly preferred.
- Experience working with regulators, communities, and government stakeholders on resource development projects.
- Strong understanding of mine permitting and environmental regulatory processes.
