Vice President of Construction - Water/Wastewater

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for water and wastewater construction operations
  • Oversee successful project execution from preconstruction through closeout
  • Lead Project Managers, Superintendents, and construction leadership teams
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to high quality standards
  • Drive operational performance across project delivery, staffing, scheduling, profitability, and resource planning
  • Review and approve project budgets, schedules, contracting strategies, risk assessments, and resource plans
  • Develop and implement strategies to support revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion
  • Partner with estimating and business development teams on strategic pursuits and new opportunities
  • Serve as an executive sponsor for major projects and important client accounts
  • Champion a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and operational discipline
  • Lead workforce planning, succession planning, talent development, and retention efforts
  • Evaluate and implement process improvements, construction technologies, and operational best practices
  • Collaborate with finance and senior leadership on annual budgets, forecasting, and long-range planning

What They're Looking For

  • 15+ years of progressive construction leadership experience
  • Significant experience with water and wastewater treatment facility construction
  • Strong background overseeing Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, and construction operations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple departments, project teams, and operational priorities
  • Strong understanding of budgets, schedules, contracts, risk management, and project controls
  • Able to lead through conflict, make sound decisions under pressure, and drive accountability
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with owners, boards, executives, clients, and field teams
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
