About the role

The Vice President of Advancement and Engagement leads fundraising, church engagement, and community engagement programs to drive growth and expand the impact of Idaho Family Policy Center. This role supervises high-performing teams, cultivates key donor and ministry relationships, and executes strategic plans that consistently exceed goals. Working closely with the President, the Vice President of Advancement and Engagement translates vision into action—overseeing programs and stewarding team culture. This leader also effectively communicates the biblical worldview across our six key issue areas, maintaining alignment in messaging, partnerships, and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Advancement Activities and Team Management (40%)
    • Recruit, train, and supervise the advancement team, setting expectations and holding team members accountable for performance.
    • Participate in the formulation and execution of an advancement plan to ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual fundraising goals are exceeded.
    • Create individual goals for major ministry partners based on the donor's history of giving and the knowledge of that donor's potential.
    • Solicit grant funds from national foundations and other organizations to help fund programs and initiatives.
    • Develop and manage the fundraising calendar to plan fundraising campaigns and donor events.
    • Provide monthly reports and recommendations to the leadership and advancement teams detailing fundraising metrics.
    • Manage and grow a portfolio of prospective and current donors through in-person meetings, phone calls, and email/mail correspondence—cultivating strong relationships, communicating ministry impact, and strategically increasing engagement and giving.
    • Use the CRM to create and manage campaigns around agreed upon goals.
  • Church Engagement Activities and Team Management (20%)
    • Recruit, train, and supervise the church engagement team, setting expectations and holding team members accountable for performance.
    • Oversee and contribute to the development of church engagement marketing materials and educational resources, including brochures, booklets, curriculum, etc.
    • Build and nurture relationships with church leaders with the goal of finding opportunities for partnership with their churches.
  • Community Engagement Activities and Team Management (20%)
    • Recruit, train, and supervise the community engagement team, setting expectations and holding team members accountable for performance.
    • Build and nurture relationships with community leaders and public officeholders; engage with the community by attending events and networking with allied organizations.
    • Oversee and contribute to the development of community engagement marketing materials and educational resources, including brochures, booklets, curriculum, etc.
    • Perform other duties necessary to expand organizational influence and impact.
  • Office and administrative support (20%)
    • Coordinate with vendors, including but not limited to web developers, CRM/advocacy platforms, mailing houses, graphic designers, etc.
    • Utilize CRM and advocacy platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and other computer needs.
    • Support the planning and execution of IFPC events: fundraising galas/receptions, church engagement events, legislative townhalls, campaign schools, and voter education events.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., theology, philosophy, communications, or government).
    • Fundraising Experience: 5+ years of fundraising experience with a demonstrated track record of exceeding goals and making direct asks, preferably within a Christian ministry.
    • Church Engagement: Strong understanding of church and denominational dynamics and the ability to build effective relationships with pastors and ministry leaders; preferred experience engaging churches and pastors.
    • Team Leadership: Significant experience leading and managing teams, preferably direct supervision in fundraising, church engagement, and/or community engagement roles.
  • Other Mandatory Qualifications
    • Ability to apply a biblical worldview to public policy and organizational messaging.
    • Strong attention to detail, including the ability to learn administrative systems, identify errors or inconsistencies, and maintain brand and message alignment.
    • Results-driven and growth-oriented mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, expanding ministry environment.
    • Experience with CRM platforms and/or business management software (specifically Neon CRM is used, but specific one not important).

  • Strong skills in fundraising strategy, development operations, communications, donor engagement, and internal stakeholder management.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Deep Christian faith and a strong affinity for public policy.
  • Strong soft skills (relational).
  • Ability to communicate programs effectively while also being relational.
  • Ability to make notes on meetings and phone calls.
  • Ability to schedule meetings, make asks on the phone, and invite to events on the phone.
  • Understanding of CRM or business management software.
