Key Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for an established employee benefits consulting portfolio valued at more than $2 million in annual revenue.
  • Maintain exceptional client satisfaction and retention through proactive relationship management.
  • Serve as the primary strategic advisor for public sector, municipal, school district, and union clients.

Succession & Transition Leadership

  • Partner closely with a senior consultant during a structured transition period.
  • Facilitate relationship transfers, knowledge capture, and continuity planning.
  • Ensure a seamless experience for clients throughout the transition process.

Compliance & Advisory Expertise

  • Provide guidance on ACA reporting, ERISA, HIPAA, and other employee benefits compliance requirements.
  • Advisory clients on public sector and collectively bargained benefits environments.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and communicate implications to clients.

Business Growth & Cross-Selling

  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through additional consulting and advisory services.
  • Promote solutions including self-funded plan consulting, analytics, benchmarking, pharmacy strategies, financial reporting, compliance support, and related offerings.
  • Drive revenue growth through both client expansion and new business development.

Business Development

  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective public sector and union clients throughout the New York Metro and Long Island region.
  • Develop relationships with key market stakeholders and referral sources.
  • Represent the organization within industry associations and professional networks.

Team Leadership

  • Collaborate with account management and service teams to deliver exceptional client experiences.
  • Mentor and support team members while promoting accountability, continuous improvement, and client-focused service standards.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of employee benefits consulting, brokerage, or advisory experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior client-facing leadership role with direct account ownership.
  • Strong expertise in ACA reporting and employee benefits compliance.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for managing a book of business exceeding $1 million in annual revenue.
  • Established presence and professional network within the New York region.
  • Experience serving public sector, municipal, school district, union, or multiemployer clients.
  • Active New York Life & Health Insurance License.

Preferred

  • Existing relationships with Long Island school districts, public-sector organizations, or employee benefit trusts.
  • Advanced expertise in ACA compliance and reporting strategies.
  • Experience leading teams while maintaining direct client responsibilities.
  • Background navigating organizational growth, acquisitions, integrations, or business transitions.

Position Details

  • Location: Long Island or New York Metro area (hybrid work environment)
  • Travel: Regional travel required throughout the New York market
