Our client is a rapidly growing, private equity-backed blue-collar field services platform built through the combination of established businesses and an aggressive acquisition strategy. Operating in a highly fragmented market, the company provides essential services through a network of field-based operations serving customers across the United States. Since its formation, the organization has more than doubled in size through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions, establishing a national footprint with operations in major markets across the country.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment where execution matters. You'll own the full acquisition lifecycle—from helping source opportunities through diligence, negotiations, closing, and integration—while working directly with the CEO and executive leadership. The ideal candidate brings urgency, initiative, and the ability to keep multiple transactions moving simultaneously. The company has an established buy-side advisory relationship, but this individual will also help develop proprietary opportunities and cultivate relationships across the industry. If you're motivated by building something meaningful, closing deals, and creating enterprise value through acquisitions, this role offers exceptional visibility, autonomy, and long-term upside.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full M&A lifecycle for buy-side acquisitions, from initial target identification and evaluation through diligence, negotiation, closing, and post-transaction integration.
  • Assess acquisition opportunities against strategic, operational, and financial criteria to prioritize targets with the greatest potential to accelerate growth and create enterprise value.
  • Manage multiple transactions concurrently, maintaining momentum, organization, and accountability across every stage of the deal process.
  • Lead and coordinate financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, transaction structuring, negotiations, and execution in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the CEO, executive leadership team, and private equity sponsors to execute the company’s acquisition strategy and support broader growth objectives.
  • Cultivate relationships with business owners, industry executives, advisors, brokers, intermediaries, and referral partners to develop a robust pipeline of proprietary and actionable acquisition opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the company’s retained buy-side advisor while independently identifying and pursuing attractive acquisition targets.
  • Build, manage, and continuously optimize a disciplined M&A pipeline, ensuring qualified opportunities advance efficiently and with an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Partner with operational leadership on integration planning and execution to help ensure acquired businesses achieve targeted financial, operational, and strategic outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain effective M&A reporting, tracking, and communication processes that provide leadership and investors with clear visibility into pipeline activity, transaction progress, and key milestones.
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of the company’s long-term acquisition strategy as the organization expands its national footprint.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Transaction Advisory, M&A, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience executing acquisitions across the transaction lifecycle, including target evaluation, financial analysis, due diligence, negotiation, and closing.
  • Experience working within a private equity-backed company or investment environment is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple transactions and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, highly execution-oriented environment.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, analytical, and transaction execution skills.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational capabilities, with a high level of attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively engage CEOs, founders, executives, advisors, intermediaries, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • High level of ownership, urgency, sound judgment, and personal accountability.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-directed approach with the initiative to identify opportunities, solve problems, and drive transactions forward without waiting for direction.
  • Experience working with founder-owned and middle-market businesses is highly desirable.
  • CPA, CFA, MBA, or other relevant credentials are a plus but not required.

Benefits

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-growth platform at a pivotal stage of its evolution and play a central role in building the next phase of the business. As Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions, you will:

  • Shape the company’s future by leading acquisitions that directly influence its growth trajectory and market position.
  • Partner with experienced leaders who have a clear vision for building and scaling the platform.
  • Build a powerful industry network by developing relationships with founders, owners, advisors, and other key stakeholders across a highly fragmented market.
  • Drive national expansion through disciplined, high-quality M&A execution and integration.
  • Create meaningful equity value with the opportunity to participate in the long-term financial success of the company and its anticipated exit.
