About the role

The Vice President, Medical Affairs will report directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). They will collaborate with all departments including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, and others. They will participate in meetings, conferences, and training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with current and new collaborations within the oncology field as required
  • Works with managed care in a support role to develop and refine required clinical/medical documentation to support medical policy for reimbursement
  • Provides support to members of the management team involved in regulatory affairs as required in the preparation of documents and material for presentation
  • Supports Agendia's Sales and Marketing efforts, Clinical Trial strategy, and clinical utility data development, regulatory and reimbursement activities, and client services and support activities
  • Contributes medical and clinical input to the new product development process
  • Supports the Chief Medical Officer for medical marketing plans for product development in cooperation with the Sales and Marketing department
  • Supports the Chief Medical Officer for the development, and presentation of medical, clinical, and scientific materials to all stakeholders with significant cooperation with the sales and marketing organizations
  • Presents programs to educate appropriate customers about Agendia's diagnostic product offerings such as scientific publications, account in-services, WebEx sessions, scientific presentations, etc.
  • Provides statistical and analytic support for medical input for the development of clinical trials/research, data collection, safety, and medical information programs
  • Aids in the design and implementation of clinical trials and interpretation of results
  • Assists in the assessment of clinical data and, in collaboration with Marketing and Regulatory:
  • Aids in developing product-specific information and communication strategies
  • Cultivates and maintains open and positive relationships with key thought leaders and customers
  • Aids where appropriate with physicians and patients regarding data interpretation
  • Presents data as appropriate to a wide range of audiences including but not limited to physicians, hospital administrators, and payers within the US
  • Provides strategic leadership and direction for the global Medical Affairs function, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and scientific priorities
  • Leads, develops, and mentors a high-performing, geographically dispersed Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous learning
  • Teaches, coaches, and mentors new hires as well as all MSLs is the focus of the role as well as responsibility for creating and executing MSL Training plans with all new hires as well as the entire MSL team
  • Responsible for creation and adherence to department budget

Qualifications

  • Advanced Clinical/Science Degree is preferred (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MSN, MPH, etc.)
  • Master of Science Degree minimum or higher required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience leading and developing geographically dispersed, global Medical Affairs teams across multiple regions, cultures, and time zones
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Experience in Oncology – Breast cancer and solid tumors preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience in Cancer Genomics and Genetics
  • Knowledge of and experience in data analytics 5 years minimum
  • Public speaking proficiency
  • Global management experience a plus

  • Ability to perform detailed, payer-focused market research both domestically and internationally
  • Executive suite presentation experience (CMO, CFO, CEO, President, VP)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams and stakeholders across diverse cultural, regulatory, and healthcare environments
  • Business planning skills, both strategic and tactical
  • Successful track record with molecular diagnostics contracting and medical policy implementation preferred
  • Strong understanding of coding and reimbursement for both commercial and government payers
  • Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding financial and/or other quantitative targets, as well as qualitative goals
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all members of the organization, customers, and external contacts
  • Ability to travel with overnight stays and attend some weekend programs
  • Ability to translate key scientific information supporting product competitors' science and marketplace to a broad range of Oncology customers
  • Advanced knowledge of concepts and practices with the ability to use in diverse business situations
  • Ability to complete and implement attainable business plans
  • Strong understanding of commercial carrier plan designs, state, and federal government reimbursement and diagnostic payment channels
