About the role

The Vice President, Media Strategy will manage the strategy and planning process for a long-standing, well-known retail account. This leadership role involves contributing to brand strategy, building client relationships, and managing and developing an internal strategy team. The ideal candidate has strategic expertise in retail media, audience strategy, client leadership, and team building, with a solid understanding of media investment. Recent experience managing a Retail or CPG account is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a thought leader and strategic partner for retail media strategy with internal and external partners.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of current media industry trends and brand business, focusing on upstream initiatives.
  • Ensure the team delivers strategic media recommendations aligned with brand objectives.
  • Drive innovation and thought leadership to develop modern marketing solutions for clients.
  • Collaborate with analytics, research, investment, and operations teams to implement flawless strategies.
  • Elevate strategic thinking across the portfolio and set learning agenda elements.
  • Write and deliver strategies and POVs, overseeing their translation into audience recommendations and plans.
  • Analyze client audience strategies and lead business case development with internal groups.
  • Facilitate workshops and brainstorms to drive desired outcomes.
  • Provide vision, direction, and support to team members to align their work with agency goals.
  • Demonstrate deep technical understanding, problem-solving, and intervention when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in marketing, advertising, communications, business, sociology, or consumer insights.
  • 10+ years of experience in media planning/strategy with progressive responsibility.
  • 7+ years of previous management experience.
  • Expertise in retail media strategy.
  • Ability to strategically plan campaigns aligning with client goals and KPIs.
  • Proven pitch experience.
  • Experience across all media types (national, local, digital, direct, programmatic, shopper, etc.).
  • Ability to anticipate and adapt to changing client needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to translate data into viable business solutions.
  • Strong leadership to drive team results.

Pay

Compensation Range: USD $159,695.00 - USD $229,425.00/Annually. This role may also be eligible for bonus or incentive compensation. Compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
