Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the airport’s enterprise technology strategy.
- Oversee all information technology, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and shared-use systems.
- Direct technology infrastructure supporting airport operations, passenger processing, and security functions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable FAA, TSA, DHS, PCI, CJIS, and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage IT operating and capital budgets, vendor relationships, and technology investments.
- Lead disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response planning initiatives.
- Collaborate with planning and business development teams to integrate technology into capital projects and airport development programs.
- Guide technology transformation initiatives that improve operational performance, customer experience, and organizational effectiveness.
- Develop, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary technology team while fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Ten or more years of progressive information technology experience, including at least five years in leadership roles.
- Experience within airports, aviation, critical infrastructure, or governmental organizations strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity, enterprise infrastructure, regulatory compliance, and large-scale technology initiatives.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNP, ITIL, PMP, or relevant cloud certifications preferred.
- Proven success managing budgets, vendor partnerships, strategic technology planning, and high-performing technical teams.
Pay & Benefits
Salary is dependent on qualifications and will be based upon the knowledge and experience of the individual selected. The hiring range for this position is $130,000- $150,000 and is accompanied by a competitive benefits package. AVL employees are members of the North Carolina Retirement System (pension + 401k). This position is eligible for 12 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, and professional leave. Additional benefits include cell phone allowance, vehicle allowance, and longevity bonus (starting after five years of service).
