Vice President, Growth Mission Support
About the role
The Vice President, Growth and Mission Support will lead the development of new business opportunities and the retention and expansion of existing and related business opportunities for Global Mission Support (Base Operations and Logistics).
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains in-depth knowledge of V2X lines of business and strategic directions.
- Develops short and long range plans for penetration/expansion of potential business opportunities.
- Develops Mission Support strategic growth plan (5-year).
- Oversees and leads new business proposal efforts to ensure core competency, compliance with customer requirements and attainment of cost and budget objectives.
- Supports the development of bid and proposal estimates, monitors progress against plan, and initiates corrective action where appropriate.
- Interfaces with partner organizations to promote cooperative new business pursuits and ventures.
- Captures and manages the qualification of pursuits to support required bid submission velocity and bookings performance goals.
- Provides overall leadership of capture teams in the preparation of program acquisition/capture plans on selected programs detailing the win strategy, discriminators, cost to win estimates, and action plans.
- Maintains an awareness of industry capabilities and recommends, where appropriate, business relationships such as teaming, joint ventures and/or subcontracting.
- Affirms and reports on competitor activities, capabilities, perceived strategies and new developments.
- Participates in selected Government/Industry Associations and Government briefings to Industry, and Industry briefings to Government.
- Ensures all business development activities are consistent with growth processes and schedules in accordance with current procurement timelines.
- Establishes and maintains business relationships with potential partners.
- Takes advantage of Mission Support and V2X capabilities to build cross portfolio opportunities.
- Works with V2X Government Affairs personnel to cultivate relationships inside the Federal Government to include Congress and the Pentagon.
- Recommends the use of consultants where appropriate and conducts performance measurements.
- Leads a team of 20-30 professionals.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree, 15+ years of experience in management within business development and execution in DOD and/or Federal civilian agencies, 10+ years of experience in an executive position directly related to business development for Global Mission Support.
- Knowledge: Full knowledge of the federal procurement process, strong, proven capability to apply process-driven capture approaches throughout the business capture lifecycle, record of successful business development wins in relevant mission areas.
- Other Requirements: Ability to travel to project and customer locations up to 50%, U.S. citizen, active secret security clearance required.
Desired Qualifications
- Education: Masters Degree in Business, Marketing, Contracting and Acquisition Management, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
- Experience: Knowledge of V2X or like business lines and BD process is preferred.
Skills
- Business Development and Growth Acumen: Good understanding of government procurement, DoD contracts, regulations and procedures, DoD operations and maintenance services, proposal writing, work breakdown structures, basis of estimates, storyboards, and narrative solution content, effective and efficient use of capture and proposal resources (e.g., B&P, IRAD, facilities, demos, program personnel), ability to produce compelling solutions that are easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Business Partner/Effective Communication/Process Improvement: Outstanding communicator, both orally and in writing, able to explain technical business development and growth concepts in clear, common sense terms, demonstrated experience developing and presenting oral proposals, possesses a sense of ownership and entrepreneurial spirit, someone who is comfortable in a dynamic and evolving organization, well-organized with an attention to detail, analytical skills focused on problem solving and process improvement, innovative and creative thinking in developing organizational processes and procedures.
- Lead with Character/Collaboration and Teamwork/Influence: Adept at building relationships across the enterprise and within the customer environment through collaboration, teaming, consensus building and interpersonal effectiveness, establishes working relationships with customers, partner companies, technical staff, managers and peers, positive influencing skills, able to interact with professionals in various functional areas to resolve issues throughout the organization and to mesh complex business development concepts with data needs from non-business development groups, experienced manager and motivator of teams, able to manage a complex task and team composed of personnel who are highly educated and skilled, strong ethics, integrity and character, an individual with a strong work ethic who will flourish in a dynamic environment, persuasive and self-confident, with the personality skills to interact effectively with other senior managers at the company.
