Water.org is a global nonprofit organization with a mission to remove barriers between people living in poverty and access to safe water and sanitation solutions. Today, 1 in 4 people lack access to safe water, 2 in 5 lack a safe toilet, and 1 million deaths occur annually from water-related diseases. Founded by Gary White and Matt Damon, Water.org has pioneered market-driven financial solutions for over 30 years, empowering more than 92 million people across 15 countries with safe water or sanitation. Our model mobilizes capital efficiently—every dollar donated unlocks $21 for water and sanitation solutions—and has facilitated 20.4 million loans with a 98% repayment rate, primarily benefiting women and low-income households.
