Vice President & General Manager, Midwest Region

About the role

Brightline is redefining pediatric behavioral health care for families across the country. As the Vice President & General Manager, Midwest Region, you'll own clinical operations across Wisconsin, starting with two clinics in Milwaukee. You'll be the operational leader on the ground, driving clinical and financial performance, fostering a positive culture, and building the foundation for expansion. This role is equal parts operator, strategist, and people leader, serving as the connective tissue between Brightline's corporate strategy and the day-to-day experience of teams and families.

Responsibilities

• Market Leadership: Serve as the single accountable leader for all market performance—financial results, clinical quality, operational execution, patient experience, and team management. Own the P&L for the Wisconsin market, including budget management, staffing forecasts, and variance management. Represent the market to executive leadership and resolve issues with speed and clarity.
• Team Leadership, Hiring & Workforce Planning: Lead the market team, with direct management responsibility for manager-level leaders and frontline operations staff. Build a hiring pipeline, oversee provider schedules, and develop strategies for retention, culture-building, and professional growth.
• P&L & Financial Ownership: Strategically own clinic- and region-level operational and financial targets. Manage staffing and clinical service capacity, track performance metrics, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Data-Driven Operations: Use data-driven insights to diagnose and improve performance. Leverage workflow observations to ensure consistent care model execution and identify areas for iteration.
• Workflow Optimization & Standards: Launch and implement new initiatives to improve operations and patient outcomes. Lead change management for workflows, systems, and corporate initiatives, ensuring team buy-in and execution.
• Patient Experience & Access: Own the patient experience across the region, using feedback and observations to improve care delivery. Manage patient access, including waitlist management and intake capacity.
• Quality, Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure regional operations meet regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards. Own incident management and risk escalation protocols, partnering with clinical leadership to address safety concerns.
• Facilities & Clinic Expansion: Strategically own facilities across the region and lead on-the-ground expansion for new clinic openings (currently four clinics with a path to six).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & External Partnerships: Build trust between senior leadership and regional teams. Manage key regional relationships and partnerships to drive performance and growth.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in a general management or senior operational leadership role; prior P&L ownership strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading both operational and clinical (or clinical-adjacent) functions in a multi-site healthcare delivery environment.
• Track record of building cohesive, high-performing teams and delivering sustainable market-level business results.
• Deep understanding of the behavioral and mental health space, with an innovative mindset for delivering differentiated care experiences.
• Strong communicator who builds relationships quickly and thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
• P&L ownership mindset—comfortable with budget management, financial forecasting, unit economics, and data-driven decision-making.
• Experience with quality standards, regulatory compliance, and risk management in a healthcare setting.
• Proven change management skills—comfortable leading teams through organizational change, new systems, and evolving workflows.
• Fluency with EHR/EMR systems and operational technology used in clinical environments.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure in a still-maturing organization.
• Willingness to travel to clinics as needed.
• Experience in a high-growth, venture-backed environment strongly preferred.
• MBA preferred but not required.

Pay

In compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual base salary range is $165,000 to $220,000 plus applicable bonus and equity. Compensation varies based on geographic location, skills, experience, and internal equity.
