Vice President for Student Affairs
About the role
The Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) is a senior leader and key member of the President’s Executive Leadership Team at Meredith College. Reporting to the President, the VPSA serves as the College’s chief advocate for student wellbeing, engagement, and co-curricular life.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the College’s chief advocate for student wellbeing, engagement, and co-curricular life.
- Provides strategic leadership for a comprehensive division that includes the Dean of Students office, residence life, counseling and health services, career planning, student leadership and service, the chaplain’s office, and athletics.
- Partners closely with campus and board leadership to advance a forward-looking vision for student life that reflects the evolving needs of today’s students while honoring Meredith’s traditions and culture of sisterhood.
- Enhances student engagement, strengthens mental health and wellness resources, supports the continued growth of athletics as an enrollment driver, improves residential and campus life infrastructure, and fosters collaboration across academic and administrative units to ensure a cohesive student experience.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in higher education administration, preferably in a student affairs role.
- A proven track record of successful leadership, strategic planning, and implementation of initiatives that enhance student success and wellbeing.
- A deep understanding of student development and the ability to foster a supportive and inclusive environment.
- A demonstrated commitment to advancing the mission of a women’s college within a dynamic and changing higher education landscape.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage students, faculty, staff, alumnae, and trustees.
- A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
Qualifications
- Experience in student affairs, including but not limited to residence life, counseling and health services, career planning, and student leadership and service.
- Knowledge of best practices in student development, mental health, and wellness.
- Experience in athletics administration and the ability to support the growth of athletics as an enrollment driver.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The VPSA reports to the President and works a standard Monday through Friday schedule.
