About the Role

Enterprise Strategy sits at the center of Mastercard’s most critical decisions, partnering directly with the CEO, Management Committee, and senior executives to shape the company’s long-term direction. The Vice President, Enterprise Strategy will play a central role in shaping, evaluating, and communicating Mastercard’s corporate strategy. You will lead major workstreams on emerging strategic issues / business unit strategies and conduct ad hoc strategic reviews for the Executive Leadership Team. The role also partners closely with senior executives and the Corporate Development team to inform and drive Mastercard’s inorganic growth agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Lead high-priority strategic projects: frame and structure issues, build workplans, conduct complex analysis, and crystallize insights and recommendations
  • Develop strategy presentations and memos for C-suite executives and the Board of Directors, synthesizing key issues, evaluating options, and articulating clear, fact-based recommendations
  • Generate new growth ideas grounded in market dynamics and competitive context
  • Refine the corporate strategy periodically to reflect material trends impacting the company
  • Assess organic and inorganic opportunities based on the company’s strategic priorities
  • Partner with business leaders to design and advance their strategies – balancing facilitation, influence, and content leadership, while ensuring alignment with corporate strategy
  • Coach and develop junior team members
  • Maintain business landscape knowledge to provide solid foundational context for projects

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in strategy consulting or strategy roles within payments, financial services, or adjacent industries
  • Strong understanding of Mastercard's products, services, and key revenue drivers, as well as the broader payment industry
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, enterprise-level initiatives end-to-end, effectively driving forward project plans in global, matrixed organizations
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills, with the ability to independently develop high-quality executive-level outputs
  • Ability to challenge established views and assumptions at all levels and facilitate/lead discussions & debates
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility, team-oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible
  • Executive presence and ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to senior management and business partners

Pay

New York City, New York: $230,000 - $368,000 USD

Purchase, New York: $221,000 - $353,000 USD

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
