About the role

This role will be responsible for the development of new clients and projects in the Healthcare sector and leading project teams to deliver those projects and grow those client relationships. Initially, there is an even balance of business development time and project-related time, with that evolving over time to be closer to 25% business development and 75% project workload.

Responsibilities

  • Manages local client coordination and cross-selling efforts in coordination with Region, District, National Business Lines, and Pursuit Management.
  • Represents the firm in the facility-specific higher education market through regular involvement in client and industry events and associations to promote intelligence gathering and pipeline development.
  • Bridges the gap between technical and business aspects of projects, bringing an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of offerings across all end markets.
  • Leverages our extended reach of technical and subject matter experts (SMEs) across regions, districts, offices, and the globe to foster new and innovative client delivery.
  • Works with the District Business Line Leader to attract the best industry talent by fostering a collaborative work environment, values inclusion and diversity, and invites broad, creative thinking – crafting a more attractive place to work, grow, and thrive.
  • Supports programs such as Safety, Sustainability, and Ethics & Compliance.
  • Optimizes the client and employee experience through regular reviews while embracing process improvement.
  • Fosters the development of new and emerging innovations to remain the trusted thought leaders in our industry.
  • Advances the region's strategic direction in the location of responsibility for sustained and continued growth consistent within the context of the strategic plan.
  • Encourages, supports, and promotes the technical and professional development of local WSP staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • 12+ years of experience in the Healthcare Industry, focusing on a combination of any of the following: Engineering Management, Business Development, and Business and Operations Management.
  • Professional Engineering license required.
  • Previous Healthcare consulting experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical design, particularly in the Healthcare industry.
  • Known in the local community with an extensive network.
  • Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of electrical engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Experience in mentorship of less experienced staff to grow their knowledge, skills, and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LEED AP Certification.
  • 12+ years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer.
  • At least 10+ years of Project Management experience.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance reviews and maintaining a high level of quality deliverables to clients.
