Vice President, Development & Delivery

About the Role

The VP of Development & Delivery provides strategic oversight and business direction for destination and design development, including major attractions, food & retail, live entertainment venues (such as CityWalk), parking structures, and destination-wide landscapes. This role leads all aspects of planning, budgeting, scheduling, estimating, design, construction, fabrication, and project completion to meet budget, quality, schedule, creative, and guest experience targets. Responsibilities may include developing new theme parks, attractions, and destination elements.

Key areas of focus include:

• Strategic oversight of master plan design and layout, including roadways, landscaping, hotels, CityWalk, and parking structures.
• Prequalification, procurement, selection, contracting, and performance management of contractors, vendors, manufacturers, and fabricators.
• Ensuring adherence to project procedures (e.g., RFIs, directives, shop drawings, submittals, punch lists, pay applications).
• Overseeing multi-destination construction to ensure designs meet Universal’s quality and safety standards.
• Active participation in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.
• Partnering with Human Resources to build and develop project teams with a focus on engagement and inclusion.
• Leading the growth of Creative Hollywood Team Members through career conversations, succession planning, and business updates.
• Maintaining project budgets and schedules within targeted objectives.
• Overseeing creative content development by internal teams or external consultants.
• Ensuring the final guest experience aligns with initial project objectives.
• Collaborating with Technical Services and Park Operations for seamless handoffs and operational readiness.
• Managing and reporting on project components (budget, schedule, progress) to executive leaders and business partners.
• Building trusted relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders for long-term destination success.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of experience in resort design and development for entertainment or hospitality projects (e.g., theme parks, hotels, retail, food/beverage, entertainment venues).
• Proven experience leading large, complex attraction and resort projects from inception to completion.
• 15+ years of experience managing and negotiating with external vendors (e.g., architects, engineers, graphic designers, construction firms).
• 15+ years of experience in major project development within hospitality, entertainment, or theme parks.
• Knowledge of divisional operating plans and alignment with company-wide goals.
• Accountability for divisional key performance indicators (e.g., Annual Operating Plan, GSAT, TSAT).
• Ability to present information effectively to top management, public groups, or boards of directors.
• Strong influence and diplomacy to drive decisions while maintaining goodwill.
• Partnership with HR, Finance, Operations, and Legal to resolve issues, plan workforce needs, and prioritize capital investments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed to practice Engineering or Architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across all levels of employees and management.
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
• Ability to interpret complex technical instructions (mathematical or diagrammatic) and analyze abstract/concrete variables.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including data collection, fact-finding, and drawing valid conclusions.

Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position based at an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Pay

Salary range: $215,000 – $280,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible).
