About the role
The VP of Development & Delivery provides strategic oversight and business direction for destination and design development, including major attractions, food & retail, live entertainment venues, parking structures, and destination-wide landscapes. This role leads all aspects of planning, budgeting, scheduling, estimating, design, construction, fabrication, and project completion to meet budget, quality, schedule, creative, and guest experience targets. Responsibilities may include developing new theme parks, attractions, and destination elements.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight and business leadership on the design and layout of master plans, including roadways, landscaping, hotels, CityWalk, and parking structures.
- Oversee prequalification, procurement, selection, contracting, and performance of all contractors, vendors, manufacturers, and fabricators required for major developments.
- Ensure adherence to project procedures, including correspondence, RFIs, directives, shop drawings, submittals, meeting minutes, punch lists, deficiency lists, notices, and pay applications.
- Oversee multi-destination construction to ensure designs are built according to intent and meet Universal’s high standards of quality and safety.
- Actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established policies and procedures.
- Partner with Human Resources on hiring and selection of project teams, emphasizing engagement and inclusion.
- Lead the development and growth of team members through career conversations, succession planning, and participation in TSAT initiatives.
- Maintain overall project budget and schedule within targeted objectives.
- Oversee the team’s management and development of creative content, whether produced internally or by outside consultants.
- Ensure the final guest experience meets initial project objectives.
- Manage and report on project components, including budget, schedule, and progress, to executive leaders and business partners.
- Foster strong connections with clients, partners, and stakeholders to build trusted relationships and ensure seamless handoffs.
- Partner closely with Technical Services and Park Operations to ensure clean, sustainable handoffs and operational readiness.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of experience in resort design and development of entertainment or hospitality-based projects, such as theme parks, hotels, retail, food/beverage, and entertainment venues.
- Proven experience leading large, complex attraction and resort projects from inception to completion.
- 15+ years of experience managing and negotiating with external vendors, including architects, engineers, graphic designers, and construction partners.
- 15+ years of experience in the development and management of major projects within hospitality, entertainment, or theme parks.
- Knowledge of division operating plans and alignment with overall company goals.
- Accountability for divisional key performance indicators (Annual Operating Plan, GSAT, & TSAT).
- Proven ability to present information effectively to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.
- Strong influence and diplomacy skills to achieve optimal outcomes while maintaining goodwill.
- Partnership with HR, Finance, Operations, and Legal to resolve issues, plan workforce needs, and prioritize capital investments.
Qualifications
- Licensed to practice Engineering or Architecture (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees and management.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.

Pay
Salary range: $215,000 - $280,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible).
Schedule
This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
