About the role

The Vice President of Credit is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization’s credit policy, risk management, and lending strategy. This role provides strategic direction and hands-on oversight of underwriting, portfolio management, and credit policy, ensuring timely and sound credit decisions in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. The VP of Credit plays a highly visible and collaborative role, partnering closely with originations, sales, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine credit policies, underwriting standards, and risk frameworks
  • Align credit strategy with overall business goals, growth targets, and risk appetite
  • Build and develop a team with a focus on critical thinking, staff development, and driving performance and results
  • Maintain credit files, audit readiness, and strong documentation standards
  • Oversee development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of credit scoring models for underwriting and portfolio monitoring
  • Participate in Senior Leadership meetings, contributing thoughts and ideas to help achieve NewLane’s goals and objectives
  • Ensure regulatory compliance within the underwriting function

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting or related field required
  • Minimum 10+ years experience in credit and equipment finance underwriting
  • 7 years experience in a leadership position
  • Understanding of credit and underwriting operations, including experience with scoring models
  • Experience in small ticket equipment finance desired
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and computer literacy skills required
  • Good working knowledge of other functional departments (i.e., Sales, Funding, Servicing, Collections, etc.) and their interactions with the Credit department
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidate should be self-motivated and possess a desire to learn
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with sense of urgency
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team setting in a fast-paced environment

Pay

$133,728.00 - $219,696.75 Individual base pay may vary on additional factors such as the candidate’s experience, job-related skills, relevant education, geographic location, and other specific business and organizational needs.

Schedule

Individuals may work a variety of schedules to meet the needs of the business, including full-time, part-time, and flexible hours.
