Responsibilities
- Serve as senior strategic advisor to day-to-day clients and executives on complex reputation challenges, stakeholder engagement strategies, and integrated communications planning.
- Build and position corporate leaders as industry thought leaders and trusted voices through earned media, speaking opportunities, bylined content, and industry forum participation.
- Manage integrated communications programs that span earned media relations, issues management, crisis communication, executive positioning, content strategy, stakeholder engagement, and digital channels—working efficiently under tight timelines and shifting priorities.
- Build and maintain relationships with top-tier business, trade, policy, and industry reporters and editors critical to client reputation and brand positioning.
- Cook up rapid-response protocols and crisis communication efforts, serving as key communicator during sensitive issues or operational challenges.
- Lead storytelling and message development that reflects a sophisticated understanding of corporate client business models, industry dynamics, stakeholder concerns, and competitive landscape.
- Cook with internal teams across multiple workstreams; ensure clarity on deliverables, deadlines, accountability, and strategic alignment.
- Support team members with clear direction, remove blockers, and maintain momentum in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
- Model excellence in client service, strategic thinking, and professional execution.
Qualifications
- 8-10+ years of corporate communications and corporate reputation experience in an agency environment, with at least three years managing client relationships and strategic communications programs.
- Expertise in the retail, manufacturing and/or healthcare sectors is a plus.
- Crisis and issues management experience—demonstrated ability to develop protocols, lead rapid response, manage executives during sensitive situations, and protect corporate reputation during challenging circumstances.
- Strong media relations expertise—proven ability to build and maintain relationships with top-tier business, trade, and policy reporters; develop compelling story angles; and secure quality earned media placements in premium outlets.
- Executive positioning and thought leadership background—experience positioning corporate leaders as industry experts, developing speaking opportunities, managing bylined content, and building executive brand and visibility.
- Demonstrated strategic counsel capabilities—ability to provide senior-level advice on complex reputation challenges, develop comprehensive communications strategies, and counsel executives on stakeholder engagement and business-critical communications decisions.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills—ability to manage multiple complex programs simultaneously, coordinate across teams, manage competing priorities, and deliver under tight timelines without compromising quality.
- Proven ability to build and mentor teams, develop junior- and mid-level talent, and support the career growth and professional development of others.
