About the Role

The Vice President of Corporate and Foundation Relations is a strategic leadership role, directing the organization’s institutional fundraising efforts. This position is responsible for a comprehensive, diversified revenue portfolio, overseeing a team that is securing funding from pharmaceutical, corporate, and foundation partners. The Vice President reports to the Chief Development Officer and bridges institutional funder priorities with strategic program needs, working closely with executive leadership, finance, marketing, and program teams. The role ensures the operational health of the department by guiding content strategy, supervising the end-to-end grant pipeline, maintaining CRM tracking integrity, and directly cultivating a portfolio of complex high-value corporate and foundation partnerships to ensure sustainable financial growth.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Partner with LUNGevity’s senior management to translate the organization’s strategic priorities and secure multi-program or large-scale institutional support.
    • Serve as the key liaison between the Corporate and Foundation Relations team and executive leadership, ensuring effective two-way communication that informs comprehensive strategies for engaging corporate funders.
    • Collaborate with executive management to design strategic benefits and deliverables for industry partners.
    • Oversee the creation of sponsorship packets and funding narratives in partnership with Marketing.
    • Provide oversight of revenue pipelines and progress toward goals, presenting regular strategic updates and projections to the Chief Development Officer and executive leadership.
  • Portfolio Management & Grant Submissions
    • Personally manage a portfolio of funders, serving as a point of contact with each funder, while also clearly communicating and collaborating with executive leadership to ensure seamless coordination and communication with partners.
    • Identify, qualify, and architect initial outreach strategies for high-value corporate and foundation prospects, with an emphasis on diversifying overall funding beyond pharmaceutical and biomedical companies.
    • Oversee grant submissions and write complex grants.
    • Guide portfolio assignments for corporate and foundation team members to ensure the pipeline remains robust, balanced, and optimized for growth.
  • Departmental Operations & Grants Governance
    • Oversee timely and effective grant and program reporting, including the preparation and submission of funder reports.
    • Provide oversight of the Grants and Operations team to ensure accurate and efficient internal workflows, including the Salesforce grants calendar, deliverables tracker, financial reconciliations, and CRM data hygiene.
    • Collaborate with the Finance team to develop and optimize programmatic budgets.
    • Monitor departmental compliance and risk by reviewing active, pending, and declined grants and proactively addressing potential risks related to missed deliverables, underperformance, and other grant management issues.
  • Team Management & Development
    • Lead and mentor a high-performing team to achieve individual and collective milestones, directly supervising portfolio managers and grants and operations team members.
    • Develop metrics for each portfolio manager to measure moves management and ensure strategic activity to achieve fundraising goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8-10 years of institutional fundraising experience, building revenue from corporate and foundation partnerships.
  • Demonstrated track record of securing five- to seven-figure investments from institutional funders.
  • Deep knowledge of biomedical industry and corporate funding motivations.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing fundraising teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to distill complex scientific concepts into compelling philanthropic narratives.
  • Passion for science, research, improving outcomes, and changing lives for people with cancer.
  • CRM proficiency (Salesforce preferred) and strong data-driven decision-making capabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred.
  • Willingness to travel 10–20% annually for donor engagement, with occasional weekend meetings and signature organizational events.

Pay

Salary range is $120,000-$150,000. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, geographic location, and other relevant factors.
