Factory is seeking a hands-on Vice President, Accounting to lead high-quality accounting and reporting for Factory Services clients. This player-coach will own complex multi-entity work, strengthen controls and close processes, lead client deliverables, and review and mentor an Associate, Accounting.
Responsibilities
- Own monthly and periodic closes across personal, trust, and operating-entity books, including complex reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement review.
- Review the Associate's work for accuracy, completeness, supporting documentation, and timely resolution of open items.
- Prepare and present clear financial, cash-flow, budget, and variance reporting for clients and Factory relationship teams.
- Oversee accounts payable, receivables, payroll coordination, cash activity, and related accounting controls within each client's approved service scope.
- Maintain close calendars, account ownership, review evidence, and auditable workpapers across client engagements.
- Prepare complete tax packages and coordinate documents, estimates, notices, and deadlines with clients' outside tax professionals; this role does not prepare tax returns or provide tax advice.
- Coordinate with advisers, banks, payroll providers, attorneys, and other authorized professionals while protecting client confidentiality and access boundaries.
- Identify accounting risks, control gaps, and process bottlenecks, then implement practical and documented improvements.
- Partner with Factory's platform and operations teams to improve document intake, reconciliations, reporting, and payables workflows without weakening human review or approval controls.
- Support client meetings and explain accounting information, open items, and recommended next steps in plain language.
- Mentor the Associate, establish review expectations, and help build a consistent and accountable accounting operating cadence.
- Uphold Factory's professional standards, ethical obligations, and privacy expectations in every client interaction.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful responsibility for multi-entity close, financial reporting, and review.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong command of accrual and cash-basis accounting, general ledger management, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to design or operate close controls, review workpapers, resolve discrepancies, and manage competing deadlines.
- Experience leading, reviewing, or mentoring accounting staff in a hands-on environment.
- Advanced Excel or spreadsheet skills and comfort learning modern accounting, reporting, and workflow systems.
- Clear written and verbal communication with the judgment and presence to work directly with clients and senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule in Los Angeles and participate in periodic client or team meetings as needed.
Skills
- CPA licensure or substantial progress toward the CPA credential.
- Experience in a family office, business-management firm, or accounting team serving athletes, entertainers, creators, entrepreneurs, or high-net-worth families.
- Experience coordinating accounting across personal accounts, trusts, partnerships, corporations, and other related entities.
- Experience with investment-account activity, royalties, endorsements, sponsorships, variable income, or multi-state financial complexity.
- Proficiency using AI tools or APIs to improve accounting workflows such as document intake, reconciliations, reporting, payables, or close management while preserving privacy, human approval, and auditability.
Pay
The base salary range for this role is $110,000 to $140,000 per year. Actual compensation will reflect relevant experience, qualifications, and role scope.
