About the role
This is a full-time, hybrid leadership role based in Charlotte, NC. The Vice Chairman of the Board works closely with the Chairman and Board to shape strategic direction, oversee key initiatives, and ensure alignment with the organization’s mission to support student growth and empowerment.
- Participate in board meetings
- Review organizational performance
- Provide guidance to executive leadership
- Support the development of academic, business, and community programs
- Manage governance processes
- Foster strong stakeholder relationships
- Represent the organization at events, partnerships, and external meetings
- Contribute to fundraising efforts, policy development, risk management, and continuous improvement of organizational systems and culture
Requirements
- Leadership and governance skills, strategic decision-making, and collaborative leadership
- Organizational development and planning skills, such as strategy formulation, program oversight, and change management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking, stakeholder engagement, and conflict resolution
- Experience with education, student organizations, or youth-focused nonprofits, with an understanding of learner-centered environments
- Financial and operational acumen, including basic budgeting, risk awareness, and performance monitoring
- Ability to work hybrid in Charlotte, NC, and maintain a consistent presence for meetings, events, and community engagement
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, ethical conduct, and fostering personal and professional growth for diverse communities
