About the role

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks a board certified / board eligible physician to lead research within the department. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve the research operation to achieve target Blue Ridge ranking, bring in research funds, and support research into important topics for primary care, family medicine, and underserved or minority populations.
  • Participate in the DFCM Executive Team and support clinical care by seeing patients in residency programs.
  • Sustain robust lines of research and funding, develop new lines of research, and attract new researchers to the research enterprise.
  • Support and encourage faculty to study and publish their own work, even if they are not primarily researchers.
  • Oversee research functions such as grants, IRB, research-evaluation services, and research facilitators at local sites.
  • Maximize research funding and productivity that aligns with department goals, and promote collaboration with other research entities across MCW.
  • Cultivate a culture of inquiry for faculty and learners to ask and answer practice-based questions and publish as an academic family medicine department.
  • Be a model for active research, producing results and interacting with other researchers.
  • Mentor researchers as a group or as individuals, establish pathways for novice researchers, and find or develop other mentors.
  • Oversee Department dashboard metrics related to research and develop annual and expanded metrics to monitor and improve the research operation.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine.
  • Additional Research Training preferred.
  • State medical licensure, or eligibility to obtain license, in the state of Wisconsin.
