Vice Chair for Research and Scholarship- Emergency Medicine - Milwaukee, WI
About the role
The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks a visionary and highly motivated researcher to join the Department as an Associate or Full Professor for the position of Vice Chair for Research and Scholarship.
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the System Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic plans for the research mission of the department in conjunction with Department Chair.
- Focus on increasing extramural funding and the number and quality of departmental peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
- Support the research mission through five directors: Director of Research Operations, Director of Research Education and Training, Director of the Resuscitation Research Center (RRC), Director of the Center for Substance Use Research and Intervention (SURI), and Director of the Emergency Medicine (EM) Clinical Trials Unit (CTU).
- Lead a team of research staff, including scientists, project coordinators, and clinical trial enrollers.
Requirements
- Successful applicants will possess an M.D. and/or Ph.D. as well as the qualifications to be appointed as Associate Professor or Professor with or without tenure.
- Possess an active, portable portfolio of extramurally funded research.
- Have a track record of successfully managing research teams and resources.
- Have prior experience with budgetary oversight and grant administration.
- Have the ability to create and execute a strategic vision, provide guidance, and stimulate research endeavors in the Department of Emergency Medicine, while at the same time maintaining an active, extramurally funded research portfolio.
