Cardiovascular Services / Vice Chair for Research

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on research projects related to cardiovascular disease, aging, obesity, diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
• Develop and maintain a robust, independently funded research program in mechanistic, translational, or population-based cardiovascular science.
• Lead and contribute to NIH R01 and other major grant applications.
• Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed journals and scientific meetings.
• Foster collaboration with clinical and basic science faculty across disciplines.
• Mentor medical residents, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.
• Pursue and maintain external funding from NIH, AHA, CDC, and other agencies.
• Engage in limited teaching responsibilities as appropriate.
