About the role

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician to join their Oncology team.

Responsibilities

  • Play a vital role in diagnosing and treating cancer using advanced tools like radiography, ultrasound, biopsies, and cytology while assisting with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery.
  • Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 7am-5pm. *no weekends or on-call expectations*
  • Perform physical exams, assess vital signs, and recognize abnormal lab values.
  • Conduct phlebotomy and place IV catheters for chemotherapy administration.
  • Safely prepare, dispense, and administer oral, SC, and IM chemotherapy agents.
  • Verify chemotherapy calculations, dosages, and proper IV catheter setup.
  • Recognize and respond to chemotherapy extravasation.
  • Admit and discharge patients, obtaining history and educating clients on treatment, side effects, and home care.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and veterinary teams, addressing concerns and facilitating calls.
  • Understand tumor types, diagnostic protocols, and oncology-specific terminology.
  • Aid in anesthesia monitoring for ASA I & II patients.
  • Stay current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R. CPR guidelines and hospital protocols.
  • Perform other relevant role responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Candidates are eligible for a sign on bonus up to $10,000 based on experience.
  • This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.
  • Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

  • Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Veterinary Technician in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Experience with oncology procedures and chemotherapy administration.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with veterinary teams.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure.
  • Knowledge of oncology-specific terminology and protocols.

Skills

  • Proficiency in using medical equipment and technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.

Pay

$26.00 - $49.00 / hour
