About the role
BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician to join their Oncology team.
Responsibilities
- Play a vital role in diagnosing and treating cancer using advanced tools like radiography, ultrasound, biopsies, and cytology while assisting with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery.
- Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 7am-5pm. *no weekends or on-call expectations*
- Perform physical exams, assess vital signs, and recognize abnormal lab values.
- Conduct phlebotomy and place IV catheters for chemotherapy administration.
- Safely prepare, dispense, and administer oral, SC, and IM chemotherapy agents.
- Verify chemotherapy calculations, dosages, and proper IV catheter setup.
- Recognize and respond to chemotherapy extravasation.
- Admit and discharge patients, obtaining history and educating clients on treatment, side effects, and home care.
- Communicate effectively with clients and veterinary teams, addressing concerns and facilitating calls.
- Understand tumor types, diagnostic protocols, and oncology-specific terminology.
- Aid in anesthesia monitoring for ASA I & II patients.
- Stay current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R. CPR guidelines and hospital protocols.
- Perform other relevant role responsibilities.
Requirements
- Candidates are eligible for a sign on bonus up to $10,000 based on experience.
- This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.
- Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.
Qualifications
- Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Veterinary Technician in the state of Massachusetts.
- Experience with oncology procedures and chemotherapy administration.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with veterinary teams.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure.
- Knowledge of oncology-specific terminology and protocols.

$26.00 - $49.00 / hour
